I just went to 7-11 and they have a new flavour of hot chocolate in the dispensing machines where you get take out coffee. It is Snicker's Peanut Flavour  . I am really disturbed by this as there would be a lot of cross contamination with spills, etc. The Snickers flavour is only for a limited time - I do not imagine they will be cleaning the machines properly between changing flavours.

I will contact the Food and Drug agency and see what they say.

Hi - so the update on the Snicker's Hot Chocolate is that a Vancouver Health Inspector was contacted by the Federal Food and Drug people. He checked the store, examined the mix and read the label. The product does not contain peanuts or peanut oil. So that is good. It is not a physical danger to all the people with LTA's to peanut. But shouldn't it be called Peanut Flavored Hot Chocolate, then?

Emotionally, it still bugs me that companies feel the need to make this stuff, cos even if it's safe it freaks my kid (9 year old boy) out. The irony is that Snickers is same company as Mars and my son just got a letter back from Mars thanking him for writing to thank THEM for making his life better by making peanut-free Mars Bars -maybe he should write and thank them for making peanut-free peanut flavored hot chocolate   )

The other thing to mention is that our system for checking products like this is really good and efficient.
