Thank you for sharing your family. It is wonderful watching siblings watch out for one another. We live with anaphylaxis as well, almost 16 years now, and I had forgotten when the kids were little, how every wish was for that allergy to just go away. It hasn't....but we, each in our own way, try to educate as we go. Thank Avery for helping from us and tell her to keep up the great work!

I'm in tears after reading this story! Your daughter is a hero, not only to her brother but to my son and to so many other children around the world. I'm petrified of putting my child (now 16 months old) into school in the next couple of years because i know kids will be kids and even though they don't mean to do harm, there is a huge lack of knowledge about allergies. If my son doesn't outgrow some of his allergies i don't even know how it's possible for him to attend school with out me having a daily anxiety attack. I pray for more Avery's in the world. Thank you for the touching story.

What a wonderful sister to care so much about her brother to educate. I almost cried because I see my son's reactions to comments about my daughter's allergies. My son is also very protective of his little sister in general and especially when it comes to her allergies. He gets angry when he tells someone she's allergic to dairy and their response is "oh you mean she's lactose intolerant" and then he says he wishes it was just an intolerance and lets them know what the word allergy means when used in reference to foods...
