May 2011 Awareness Month: Food Allergy

May is Food Allergy Awareness Month. So what can you do to participate? Here are a few ideas to get you started.

  • Food Allergy Awareness Week [1] runs May 8-14. The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network offers excellent ideas [1] on how to raise awareness of and garner support for food allergies. For example, why not create a Best Poster contest in your kids school? FAAN offers ideas for allergy-related poster messages. Or, think about doing a food allergy presentation for your co-workers.
  • In Canada, the Allergy/Asthma Information Association and EpiPen are hosting cross-country Take Action Events [2]to help raise funds for anaphylaxis. Ottawa and Kelowna held great events, and there are more events coming up. Lace up your sneakers, solicit donations and support an important cause!
