This could happen in many places, here in Alberta, many schools/boards have no clear responsibilities either...an advisory that is unclear as to what training means and how often it should happen and who that should involve is not what I would call accountable.

Your last question Susan.....maybe one in every province or I guess more in Quebec. I would hope that all people who work with our children would be trained in first aid, but upon looking further into these issues have found it to be a patchwork of procedures across the country.

Nothing will bring this dear child back to their family..but with attention paid to this issue on a yearly basis, as is advised by most in the know, many would not be taken in the first place. An ounce of prevention, maybe?

Quote: "...the school board is upset at Lefort’s efforts to hold the school accountable. “We understand [the family's] distress,” a board spokesperson told La Presse. “But the school has nothing to do with it.”

Nothing to do with it? Well the spokesperson is correct. Currently the schoolboard has nothing to dowith anaphylaxis policies and procedures. It is all left up to the schools individually. This needs to change.

It's time the Quebec Ministry of Education step in and create policies that clearly outline the responsiblities of school boards, schools and parents when it comes to anaphylaxis. Only then can we hold anyone responsible. How many children have to die before smething is done?

What a very sad story. As a parent of 2 kids with food allergies (and about the same age), I cannot begin to imagine the devastation this family must feel. I will make sure that our support group (<a>www.ocfoodallergy.com</a>) says a prayer for this little girl's family. It is beyond any of our understanding.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.“ Proverbs 3:5,6
